There are a
number of enduring values that I think we’ve been very fortunate to have
adopted very early in our history. So, they’re
values like, “We succeed when our customers succeed.” And it’s
understanding that that’s really the foundation of our success, that
individuals in our company succeed when their teams succeed.
Now I think the most important
value in the company is we’re also a company that takes pride in getting things
done. So, I often say that we aren’t a
great process company, but we’re a great execution company. And so what that means is really a commitment
by each individual to do what they say, to deliver against targets, to meet
customer needs, to meet associate needs.
And two, I think you want – I
think an important value that I try to drive personally and through is the
company’s not a finished product. I’m
not a finished product, meaning I need to be a better CEO next year than I am
this year if we expect the company to become better. And I think that’s true of every one of our
associates, and it’s true for the company then, as a
result.
And I think those are the core
underlying values that have really led to Ecolab’s success over the long haul.
