Flash storage has taken the enterprise by storm, offering better performance, lower energy consumption and greater resilience in comparison to traditional hard disk drives. The trade-off, up until now at least, has been cost. But with prices plummeting, that picture is changing – to the extent experts are now predicting the age of the all-flash data centre isn’t far away. MeetTheBoss TV’s Ben Thompson caught up with SanDisk’s Henri Richard to ask when that day might be, and why flash is proving so compelling.
